A way to protect assets not immediately available
Many operators, funds, corporate clients, HNWIs or family offices often hold assets they cannot dispose of. They may be:
- waiting for the opportunity to sell at the best possible price
- awaiting liens granted on various assets
- assets which need to be passed to the next generation
- within a lock-up period, or other regulatory obligation, which will delay sanction for disposal
A solution is to transfer these assets to a securitisation undertaking which will be protected from bankruptcy and safe from any seizure or petition.
Such an undertaking will then issue securities which will yield a return and the value linked to the assets.
This approach can be applied to receivables, private equity stakes, co investment, shares in companies or investment funds, commercial or residential real estate, art collections, intellectual property rights, etc.
